dispatch #5 - the book

i’ve been living with this book for years now.

late nights at the desk.

pages marked and torn.

whole chapters thrown out just to start again.

the work was lonely sometimes.

just me and the words and the quietness of doubt.

wondering if anyone would care.

if the story would land on the page the way it did in my mind.

self-publishing means you wear every hat.

writer. editor. salesman.

you learn how to hustle,

how to believe in something no one else has seen yet.

and now it’s almost here.

september 1.

soon it will be out in the world,

and the questions come harder—

who will read it?

will it matter?

truth is, i don’t know.

but i know i wrote it honest.

i know i gave it everything.

sometimes that’s the only thing you can do—

put it in their hands

and let it go.
